Welcome to my blog. The name of this thing is a combination of the name of my website, speedylee.com, and the name of my commentaries from my long ago radio and newspaper careers, Sports Leeway.
I've been in the sports business all of my professional career. I've broadcasted games, covered events for newspapers, worked for racing sanctioning bodies, represented world class racing drivers such as Johnny Mowlem and now work for Goodyear. I started announcing again in 2009 after a 25-year commercial break and now call the action for the California Lutheran University teams, the Kingsmen and the Regals, when I am available. I travel frequently on business and when the opportunity presents itself I enjoy visiting historic areas. I usually bring my camera along and grab a few images when I'm at an historic venue.
I recently started reading about the Civil War. The interest was triggered by a brief visit to the Gettysburg battlefield park in 2009. I have always known that we have ancestors who served on both sides of that war and I recently began researching the military careers of those men. One of them was wounded during the battle of Chickamauga and I decided to begin my research with that ancestor.
So this blog will be about sports, travel, history and photography.
